Privacy Notice

SpellCity is in open alpha. During alpha, do not use the service for sensitive information or anything you need kept private from the maintainers operating and debugging the system.
Optional usage analytics
Usage analytics is on by default to help improve SpellCity. We send selected feature-use events to PostHog, including visits before signup. A random ID stored in this browser connects visits and a new signup. You can opt out below at any time. We do not send names, emails, spelling answers or recordings. Managed learner activity is excluded. Your choice applies to this browser. PostHog receives network requests, including your IP address; location enrichment is disabled. Global Privacy Control pauses collection by default. Choosing Allow usage analytics takes precedence over Global Privacy Control for this site. Do Not Track and browser request blockers may still prevent collection.

To check this browser, send one labeled test event to PostHog. This respects the same preference and privacy settings as normal collection.
What We Collect
Alpha use may involve account information, sign-in records, gameplay progress, spelling attempts, review schedules, coin balances, selected street settings, word-pack activity, feedback emails, generated or uploaded content, device/browser details, request logs, errors, and operational diagnostics.
How Maintainers May Use Alpha Data
Maintainers may access and use alpha data to run the service, debug bugs, test migrations, recover from failures, improve gameplay, evaluate content quality, investigate abuse, respond to feedback, and understand whether the learning loop is working.
During alpha, maintainers may inspect records directly in operational systems. Alpha data may be copied, exported, reset, edited, aggregated, or deleted as part of development and operations.
No Alpha Data-Retention Guarantee
Alpha data may be lost, corrupted, reset, changed, or removed at any time, including during deployments, schema changes, content imports, testing, abuse response, or infrastructure failures. We do not guarantee backups, restoration, or advance notice before data changes.
Children and Schools
Self-service accounts are limited to users who are at least 13 years old. A verified parent or legal guardian may create a private managed learner profile for a child under 13. Managed children do not receive an email account or independent password. Read the Children's Privacy Notice before adding a child. SpellCity alpha is not yet configured as a school-managed educational-record system; do not enter protected school records during alpha.
What Not to Enter
Do not enter medical, financial, legal, regulated, confidential, private, or sensitive personal information. Do not upload content that includes private student records, secrets, or information you do not have permission to share.
