How SpellCity works
A familiar place for each letter, short check-ups, and a decorative city built with coins earned from remembering.
SpellCity turns spelling practice into a familiar walk along Memory Street. It is free to try and still growing in open alpha.
A place for each letter
Building 1 holds the first letter, building 2 holds the next, and so on. The buildings stay in their order while the letters change with each word. Your fourth building can hold E in NECESSARY and A in SEPARATE.
Listen, spell, and learn from the clues
Hear a word and use the letter clues to practise spelling it. A clue can show that a letter is in the right place, elsewhere in the word, or not in the word. Hints and corrections help you learn; you do not need to get everything right straight away.
Return after a break
Words have individual check-up schedules. Come back when a check-up is due and practise remembering without looking at the answer. A successful review can move the next check-up further away; a difficult word can return sooner.
Words earn coins
A correct first try without answer hints starts that word earning game coins over time. You do not need to leave the game open. When its next check-up is due, the ongoing earnings pause. A fresh independent first try can restart them. Coins have no cash value.
Make a decorative city
City building is available in alpha. Use earned coins to buy buildings permanently. Preview before placing; moving, rotating and storing an owned building are free. City building does not rearrange your protected Memory Street, and buildings do not generate income.
Start with words that matter to you
Choose a ready-to-play list, add your own words, or join a group. Adults can verify their account and add a managed learner through Learners. Each learner keeps separate words, progress, coins and owned buildings.
