For parents and guardians
Children's Privacy Notice
Version: July 12, 2026
This notice explains what SpellCity collects when a parent or legal guardian creates a managed learner profile for a child under 13.
What we collect
We collect the child's display name, the date on which the child turns 13, their selected learning settings, spelling activity, progress, review schedule, assignments, earned game currency, and technical records needed to operate and secure the service. The birth date entered during setup is used to calculate the age-transition date and is not stored.
How we use it
We use child data to provide spelling practice, save progress, personalize review timing, show the learner's city, let the guardian manage learning, maintain security, and diagnose service problems. A managed child does not receive a public profile, email account, or independent password.
Your controls
A guardian can review the managed profile, revoke consent to suspend further child use, or permanently delete the profile from the family dashboard. To request a copy of child data or ask a privacy question, email hello@spell.city.
Sharing and retention
Managed learner activity is excluded from optional PostHog analytics. Maintainers can view aggregate practice counts within SpellCity. Child data is not used for targeted advertising or made public. It is available to service providers only as needed to operate SpellCity. We keep it only while needed to provide the managed learner profile, meet security and legal obligations, or resolve a deletion request.
